MAS BAND EXPERIENCE
Tropimas is a Latinx-Caribbean fusion band inspired by Panamanian culture and the powerful connection between Latin and Afro-Caribbean heritage. Our mission is to create a space where Panamanians and the wider Latino diaspora can experience Carnival in a new, elevated way, while honoring the history that shaped us.
Panama’s culture was deeply influenced by Afro-Caribbean communities from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, Martinique, and Africa who helped build the Panama Canal. Their legacy lives on in regions like Colón, Darién, and Bocas del Toro, where Afro-Panamanian traditions continue to thrive. Tropimas exists to celebrate that story.
In Panama, Carnival traditions often center around royal courts, where queens are selected to represent their communities through pageantry, pride, and friendly competition. While that tradition remains powerful, it is not typically experienced through Caribbean-style Carnival costumes. Tropimas expands that experience by creating a VIP cultural journey where everyone, no matter their body type or background, can step onto the road feeling like royalty.
Here, everyone is a king and queen. No titles, no competition, just unity, confidence, and good vibes for all walks of life. Blending soca, Latin sounds, bouyon, and kompa, Tropimas creates a home for those who want to represent their roots while enjoying an unforgettable Carnival experience.
